Over Spring Break, we visited the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. We were on a budget so we looked up prices and it looked fairly inexpensive. We were very impressed with all the nature walks and activities for the kids but...they had a butterfly exhibit that was way over-priced. Afton REALLY wanted to see the butterflies and it was hard to tell her that it was something we couldn't afford right now. Part of me thought it was good to teach them that we don't always get to do everything...and the other part of me thought what if this would have been one of those family memories she would always remember.
Fast forward a week and while weeding, I discovered both kids laughing hysterically and standing really still in my flower garden. My first reaction was they are obviously getting into trouble since standing still isn't in their skill set. Then as I watched, I saw butterflies flitting around and landing on both of their heads! Who needs over-priced butterfly exhibits anyway?
