Parties, games, and more games

We started the week off with tornado weather. I was up late working on a website when the warning sirens went off. The last few times the sirens went off, it didn't sound too bad so I let everyone sleep. I watched from the window as the wind picked up a bit and then quickly died down. Fast forward to the next morning - we leave to take Jake to school and discover 2 blocks away from us, 3 houses were missing fences (picture: fence is thrown about 20 feet from original location), large sections of their roofs, and very large trees were split in half. Just a little too close for comfort. Our house...completely untouched.
The rest of the week involved a "whirlwind" of activities:
Afton had a party at her preschool:

Jake's school party (Afton was lucky enough to have a brief glimpse of life as a kindergartner):

Mike and I went to a last minute Celtics v Mavs game, or as we call it, pre-Valentines gift to ourself, thanks to friends that couldn't go.

And finally, Jake's soccer debut. He did great and even came close to scoring a goal. Team Lightning won 7-1.
Quick thoughts
So I'm finally up with the times and have my own blog. You'd think if someone was a "webmaster" that they might be current with a full family history...
Now I'm frantically searching my mind for all those clever things my kids did and all those life changing thoughts that would really help all who read my little blog. Nothing.
Just two quick stories about both kids. Maybe then I can feel at ease knowing that my children's lives are adequately documented.
Jake has always been interested in numbers. He loves to ask random people (fellow shoppers at Wal-Mart, those who happen to stop next to us at a red light, etc) what their address is. Finally Jake discovered his life calling when we went through the Wal-Greens drive thru to pick up a prescription. Jake decided he would like to be the teller asking people for their address to verify their getting the correct prescription. We are in the process of getting him a store job application right now.
Afton has profound moments when I realize just how fast she is growing up. This week she saw a little girl walking with just her mom. She pointed at the little girl and said "Ohhh, that little girl doesn't have a brother." Let's just hope she always appreciates that she has a big brother!

Ewwew tornado sirens! Hate that! But miss friends! :) Glad your house was ok!
Great week! I love that you're house was spared! We got back from our pre-Valentine Day date as well before the storm hit at night. The kids hung out in our room for a while until the winds died down...
